Mr. Mirsky's company installed a Fujitsu mini-split system with 3 cassettes at my house in April 2018, and it has NEVER worked properly. He promised a 5 year maintenance warranty instead of his usual 3 years in order to land the job. Within the first 2 years after installation the system stopped working 3 or 4 times and each time he came and added refrigerant saying it was just a little leak.
In August 2020 it stopped working again and after he ignored my calls and texts for 2 weeks he texted that he would come out to the house. He never showed up. After leaving more messages and sending emails and receiving no response, I called another company to come fix the problem. They added refrigerant and explained it was not normal that the system needed refrigerant every 5-6 months. They proposed a leak detection diagnostic the next time the system stopped working; which they expected to be when the new refrigerant ran out. I sent Darrow the $300 bill requesting reimbursement, and there has been no response.
A few days ago, December 6, 2020 the system stopped working again (only 4 months since the last failure). Today 12/10/20 I called the same company I had called in August. They came out and explained that the refrigerant was all gone (again). It is time to do a leak detection to find the leak that has been there all along. The leak Mirsky has refused to address. Either the unit is defective or the installation is at fault. Darrow has refused to do anything but add refrigerant, which is not a solution. It appears he is not capable of solving the problem or just doesn't care.
We have had nothing but problems with his installation job. He has not returned my calls or emails or texts. He has refused to take responsibility for his installation nor has he contacted the manufacturer to assist in resolving the problem.
We are well within the 3 year maintenance warranty (never mind the 5 year warranty he promised). I do NOT recommend Mirsky Heating and Air Conditioning and feel it is necessary to warn people of the lack of technical skills and disregard for customer service.
I put one star because I had to.

Do not hire this guy. He is a total scammer. He installed used air conditioning units in my house and pretended they were new. I've used Darrow in the past and everything went well, but something must have happened in his personal life to make him desperate because now he's screwing people over right and left. I found a bunch of negative reviews for him on Yelp in the past year, but I didn't see them in advance since I had used him before with no issues.

In March I hired him to install two heating/AC units in my apartment. He was late, uncommunicative, and did a terrible job, caused a ton of damage and did a bad job repairing it. Then neither unit worked. He eventually got one unit working but not the other, which still doesn't work to this day. Then I checked the serial numbers with the manufacturer and it turns out both units he installed were used. He tried to show me receipts to prove they were new but when I called the supply company on the receipts they confirmed that what he purchased were used display models that were sold as-is with no warranty. So basically find another contractor, Darrow is a liar and a cheat.

Darrow was such a pleasure to work with! I appreciated his attitude and his transparency, other companies, whether intentional or not, quoted a bigger job than was necessary. Darrow was great in letting me know that my AC problems didn't require as big a job and in addition gave me a very fair (if not better than fair) quote.

I admire Victor and John's endurance, they installed our unit on a very warm day and didn't stop till the job was done. Their hard work cannot be overstated.

I've never had AC problems, let alone call anyone over to evaluate and fix AC. I hope everyone's experience can be as great as mine.

After seven estimates with other companies Mr. Mirsky by far over and super exceeded any of the competition out there I’ll rephrase there is no competition when it comes to Mirsky
Just real genuine and really wants you to see that you made the right choice when you decided to go with your AC company.
We are the type of family that will research and think real hard on what company to use.
Mr. Mirsky and his crew definitely super succeeded any expectations that we had.
Never felt such great Airflow never thought we would be this happy believe me do not never give up on your air-conditioning and heating system use Mirsky if he want The best

My wife and I gave Darrow Mirsky a $600.00 deposit on March 4, 2020 for a new heater install scheduled for 03-19. Darrow was a no show and has not returned any of our texts, phone calls, or emails. He used his wife's paypal account for the transaction and she now claims they are separated and is not responsible.

Just had my 3rd amazing interaction with Mirsky Heating & Air Conditioning! First, my mother in law, needed a complete heating system replacement in her 100+ year old house on the west side. After receiving quotes from many different companies, we received the first straightforward evaluation of the situation from this company. They were respectful, honest, punctual, patient, and fair. Their work was fast, clean, and thorough. My VERY hard to please mother in law was thrilled with the work.

Next, my mother had been receiving calls from a company, offering to do a $59 "tune up" of her heating system, to get it ready for the coming season. A very pushy technician came out and ended up frightening my almost 80 year old mother, by telling her that they`d discovered asbestos in her attic, and that she`d been breathing it since she`d lived in the house, and that it would cost her almost $1800 to remediate. They also said that she had a burnt out electronic device, and that they would do her a "favor" and not charge for fixing it, IF she signed the contract accepting the work right then.

My mom called me, and I called Mr. Mirsky for a second opinion. Mr. Mirsky recognized a scam immediately, and could find no sign of asbestos anywhere. Furthermore, the device that was said to need replacement, did not, and still works today. The cost of any needed maintenance was less than 20% of what they had frightened my mom into believing was necessary, and we quickly realized that Mr. Mirsky had helped us to prevent an elder abuse scam.

Our last interaction with Mirsky Heating & Cooling was a few days ago. We had had "work" done through one of the contractors for Los Angeles' energy efficiency program, where they come out and "help" homeowners to save money and reduce electrical usage. The technicians hired by the city did virtually nothing, but managed to disable our heating unit, so as to no longer function. Due to my husband being laid off, we went without heat for a very long period of time, after this occurrence. The recent cold weather in Los Angeles, and our 8 year old daughter's asthma, caused us to re-examine the heating situation. We contacted several "recommended" heating and cooling "specialists," and were shocked to find that the lowest price was said to be close to $1000, and that the only thing that we could do was to replace the heating unit. As we are still recovering from the long term unemployment, this was out of the question. We looked for Mr. Mirsky's number, and were not sure that he covered our area, but we gave it a try. Mr. Mirsky, himself, came out, and looked at our heating system. He advised us that it was his opinion, that our unit was in good repair, and that it had a short, which, with patience could be traced, and fixed. He arranged for his top technician to come to our home, and to do a full diagnostic analysis of our system. True to his word, after 2 visits, we have our heat working again, better than ever, and again, for a small fraction of what it would have cost for the system to be replaced. It is clear to me, that the people at Mirsky Heating & Cooling have a very strong work ethic, and that they will go out of their way to save customers heartache, and their hard earned dollars. I am very grateful for how we were treated, and for the quality of their work. My family and I highly recommend them.

All i am going to say is that Mirsky disappeared in the middle of the installation. Find someone else.
