I hired Arlington Heights Heating & Cooling to replace a water heater in my unit in April. I contacted them late morning on a Friday and by 5pm that same evening my new water heater was installed...at a price that was better than two quotes I received from other companies. The office representatives I spoke to were friendly and responsive, and the servicemen who came out were professional and efficient. I would absolutely hire them again for any future HVAC needs I might have in the future.
I personally use Arlington Heights heating & cooling, and I’m also a top producing realtor and refer all of my clients there as well! No one has ever had less than exceptional service. They are a family owned business, they are reasonable with pricing, and very trustworthy. Joe and Garrett are the absolute best, and they have such a solid team around them…I have nothing but good things to say and positive experiences all around.
Do not use this company. This would be a 0 star review if Google would allow it.
TL;DR: Two service calls and almost $1000 later I had a boiler that was no longer working, had a leak in the backflow valve, and had been cursed out and hung up on by the owner.
What happened:
I called the number on our new homes boiler to have the company come do a check up and to see why the boiler was discharging. Garret Jr. came out and told me "the boiler looks good and is properly working". That same night the boiler broke and my family went without heat.
I called and AH Heating and Cooling came back the next day (Joey and Dan) to take a look. They had to completely replace the pump on the boiler. $700 and a leaking backflow valve later (note the backflow valve was not leaking prior to Joey and Dan's visit) I was assured that our boiler was in working condition (with the exception of the leaking back flow valve of course...).
That night (so for a second night in a row) our boiler went completely out cold. I called the company that night and was told no one was available and that my family would go without heat again. I called another company and the service tech was immediately able to determine that both the thermal couple and the gas valve were faulty and my family had heat that night.
When I called the next day for a refund of the services rendered I was told the owner was out of town and that the company would check to see what could be done. The owner (Garret Sr.) called me back and after 5 minutes on the phone he was cursing me out asking me "who I thought I was" and "to go F myself". The phone call ended on this note with the owner hanging up on me.
Needless to say we will not be working with this company moving forward and I highly recommend you stay away.
We had out furnace go out in the middle of the night. We had family use Arlington Heights Heating and Cooling before so we figured we would give them a shot. Called them in the morning and they were out the same day. They were able to fix the furnace by replacing the control board. All handled extremely fast and professionally. Highly recommend them for service!
Jim at Arlington Air is an absolute pro. His installs are clean, neat and all around top notch. He doesn't try to sell or up sell, and will fix or replace at your discretion. He's friendly and honest, you can trust him in your home without question. To date he has now replaced a furnace, AC, and water heater, as well as installed heated flooring in my basement and one cold upstairs room that was built over a slab. Everything has turned out perfect, and I'd recommend Arlington Air to anyone and everyone.
We recently purchased a new house. In our final walk through we noticed the AC was leaking. At closing the seller gave us a $900 check for repairs. The remaining to be refunded to the seller if the cost didn't end up being that much. This company knew we had a $900 check made out to them. The cost to repair? Surprise! Just over $900. Seems like they did just the amount of work so they could collect all $900. The day after they did their work, our AC starting making a banging noise inside the furnace and then it would turn off. They came back and replaced the blower. The banging sound continued. So they fixed the motherboard. The problem still persisted. We called twice to let them know. They said they'd give us a call back and never did. A week later I emailed them and they responded by placing the blame on us and saying we were supposed to call them. The office manager Carrie made a comment to me when I called that “we basically have a new AC”. Like we’re supposed to be grateful to them or as if they’ve done us a favor. We paid them for the work they did. After all of this they told us reset our Nest thermostat. So we did and the noise still continued. We decided to take off our thermostat and put the one we had on when we bought the home. The noise stopped and has been working for a couple of weeks now with no problem. When we contacted them to ask them why the thermostat was never tested or suggested before spending almost $1,000 on the blower and motherboard they responded by saying we were trying to take advantage of them if we wanted our money back. After all of this the owner Garrett Sr cussed at my husband and hung up on him. They either don’t know what they are doing or they intentionally take advantage of customers. They are supposed to be the experts. Why would it be our fault that parts of the AC are fixed when they didn’t need to be? Word of advice, stay away from this company!! Horrible customer service and not trustworthy!
Update: The initial repairs were $906.41 so they ate the cost of $6.41. They were there for 3 hours, not 4. I have the invoice listing the hours. The point is, we were never told exactly why it was leaking, they just came and did $900 worth of work but how do we know that it all needed to be done? They gave us a quote of several different issues costing between the ranges of $300 up to $1200 but never said exactly what the issue was. I have the email stating these estimates as well so it was not just a $1200 estimate. It was as low as $300.
The noise started less than 24 hours of the first repairs and we told them this right away.
They knew we had a nest thermostat. They asked us if it worked and we told them it worked just fine at our last house. They still never tested it to see if it was the issue. They just came and change the blower and the motherboard. When we questioned them on why they made those repairs their reasoning was that those would be damaged if we didn’t change the thermostat. You don’t repair a problem by what might happen. You repair the actual problem! If the blower and motherboard were “faulty” why did the noise continue after they were changed? They clearly weren’t the issue. They changed the blower and then were about to leave but the noise continued and so they tested the motherboard and then changed that too. Those were never the problem because the noise just continued after they were both replaced.
Their response is full of lies. If you see that this is their response to our review- think of how they might respond to you when you have an issue with their business practice.
As soon as we started questioning them we were met with hostility, anger, and being hung up on. If you have an unhappy customer you would think the best way to approach it would be with professionalism and try to work on a solution. This never happened. Just sad it came to this.
We called and they were able to come in a couple hours, then they figured out it was our inducer motor was going bad so they ordered the new one and in a couple days they were back to put it in. Very prompt and let us know when the part when be in. Would definitely recommend to others.
Bought my house in 2015. First time homeowner and have no idea what I'm doing here lol. Over the winter during the brutal cold, my furnace struggled to keep up. It passed and then come spring, my AC no longer even turned on. I reached out to the Elk Grove Facebook group and numerous people pointed me to these guys. I obtained an estimate from a family friends company. I have a personal friend who offered to do it but I dont like doing business when it comes to actual money and expectations of future accountability. And these guys. Loved interacting with Carrie (sorry if I spelled that wrong) and loved meeting with Joe in person for the estimate and work. Positive experience. Have referred neighbors already. Thank you guys. Its 55 in my house rn just to flex on mother nature lol.
I just used this company and what a great Heating and Air company. The tech was out the next day and solved the issue in less than two hours. He made sure he did no leave until the issue was solved. He also went out and got a spare part for me as an additional add on to the service. That is called going above and beyond. I will use them again for sure. As for GREG he is amazing.
Great service and competitive pricing. I really appreciate how they worked with me to find a convenient time to do a complete replacement of my heating boiler. They did a fantastic job of clean up. The only indication that they were there was my warm house : )
