We were experiencing an issue with our A/C at our business. I called several company's and Universal was the only to answer the phone. Others eventually called back but several hours later. Universal told me they could have someone out the same day and gave me a time slot. The Technician arrived early and within a few hours determined the problem and ordered the parts. The next day I received a call the parts came in and they were coming right out to replace. The technician also provided advice on a few things to make sure the unit was operating optimally. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and helpful. I will call them again if we ever experience other issues with our system. Thanks to all the technicians who worked on the unit and the office staff who took my calls and scheduled the service.
On August 19, 2020, I contacted Universal AC & Heat to repair a Rheem Heat Pump that was under warranty. I selected this company based on being a Rheem Pro, great reviews, and BBB rating. They sent a technician out and completed a diagnostic and determined that the control board was deficient, and it needed to be ordered and replaced. I assume that the part was ordered that day but instead I get an email from the owner on August 31 to see if I wanted to replace the control board, have the coils cleaned, and sign up for a yearly maintenance agreement. It took this company 11 days in the heat of the summer to place the order and attempt to do an up sale. I wanted to know if the repair cost was parts and labor or just labor. Because I believe that the part should be covered by Rheem and the cost to replace was excessive. I was confused by his written response, so I called him. He started explaining that there are all these other costs associated with warranty items ex; filling out paperwork, shipping and handling etc. I agreed to have the part replaced reluctantly without knowing exactly what I was paying for. On September 2, an appointment was set up and a price agreed upon via email for the control board to be replaced on September 4, between 10-12. The owner sent a nice response on September 3 and offered to clean the condenser coils at no charge to lessen the blow of the cost for repair. I thought it was a nice gesture and advised him that I had already cleaned the coils but if he was willing to do the other unit it would be appreciated. He responded back that he had a business to run and I was trying to take money out of his business. I responded back that he is the one that made the offer and I think that as a consumer I purchased a better unit from Rheem for a better warranty that appears to be worthless and I was going to post “Buyer Beware”. He responded back that in the best interest for his company he was not going to repair the heat pump. I called him and asked him to do the repair on the agreed upon price and he refused. My loss is having to pay another company to do a diagnostic that I already paid for. Universal AC & Heat refused to fulfill its obligation that they agreed to.
When i bought new home air condition never could keep the second floor cool. I thought the unit was too small. Eric from Universal came to the house, counted with windows, did some calculations and was not satisfied with what he saw. He went up in the attic, crawled around and found numerous holes in the duct work, and loose connections that had been existed since the house was built. Instead of selling me a larger more expensive unit, he said lets go and fix all you duct work first. The fix worked! The house on the second floor is cool for the first time in 10 years. While it cost me some money, I was able to delay replacing the unit and when it is time to buy a new one I will be able to buy a smaller one. It the long run it will save me money as I am not longer trying to cool and heat the attic. Thanks Universal! PS. The work was done during the pandemic and took two days. I was a bit uncomfortable having folks in my house, but they took all appropriate precautions
We just had our HVAC unit installed yesterday and I could not have been happier with Universal's professionalism. They showed up on the dot for their scheduled timeframe and worked diligently to ensure the installation was thorough. Hopefully, the unit will continue to work well, as it has been fantastic to have air conditioning again! Everything seems to be working wonderfully so far.
Great experience with this company. They were able to come out the very next day and the tech Andy did a great job. Really went above and beyond. Highly recommend and will use them in the future for any ac/heat needs

Failure to complete job at agreed upon price in writing. Pulled from job left consumer to get someone else after upfront cost of a diagnostic
