Van Dyken fixed my air conditioner in July when it stopped working. I didn't receive the invoice until mid September where they billed for three hours of labor. In reading this bill, I determined that I would dispute the amount of hours worked as I did not think the three hours billed was appropriate. I contacted Van Dyken and the receptionist told me that I needed to contact someone else and she couldn't help me. After many attempts at reaching out to other departments within their company, no one seemed to know how to assist. I just received notification (December 2020) that my dispute was denied. That said, Van Dyken had extremely poor communication and response times. They failed to answer my questions and my requests for assistance. BAD EXPERIENCE.
A huge thank you to everyone at Van Dyken Mechanical! We appreciate your professionalism and quick responses from the office staff to Mike, and the service crew, when handling any of our building issues. We cannot imagine running our preventative maintenance and emergency calls with anyone else.
Buyer Beware: Van Dyken Mechanical won a PM service contract for a multi-unit commercial property. They provided the best price compared to 5 other HVAC vendors. Unfortunately, my first three experiences with this company has been horrific to say the least. 1) First Experience: I needed an HVAC rooftop unit replaced. Van Dyken’s quote for the job $8,800 and another vendor’s quote was $5,000 for the same unit. I used the other vendor and saved 45% on the same HVAC rooftop unit.
2) Second Experience: Van Dyken Mechanical did a PM on another HVAC rooftop unit. During the PM they forgot to replace the blower fan motor bolts from the back of the housing. The HVAC unit belt loosen and the unit was squealing very loudly. Van Dyken also noted that the heat exchanger was cracked on the unit. Their repair proposal for the heat exchanger was $2,165. For the same job, another vendor quoted $1,069. I used the other vendor and saved 51% which included free bolts to replace the blower fan motor bolts recklessly misplaced by Van Dyken Mechanical.
3) Third Experience: Van Dyken Mechanical did another PM on another HVAC rooftop unit. This time they stated that the unit needed a new economizer for a cost of $1,925. By this time I was getting fed up with their lack of professional and integrity, and had another vendor look at the HVAC unit. The new contractor found the condensate trap turned up so far that it was flooding the condensate drain pan inside the unit. The filters were wet and water was running into the ductwork below. The contractor actually called it sabotage. The contractor tested the economizer functions and everything on the HVAC unit worked properly. In this situation, I saved $1,925 but did have to pay a service fee.
After three significant strikes, I terminated the PM relationship with Van Dyken Mechanical and am writing this Google review to ensure that no one else goes through what I had to endure from Van Dyken Mechanical.
Van Dyken is always quick to respond and sends someone out same day. Our business relies on the equipment maintained by Van Dyken, and they make sure we are always open. Thank you!
Love me some VDM. Excellent, professional, responsive are just a few things that come to mind from working with them. We exclusively use VDM for all our HVAC / mechanical needs.
