We had the annual service on my old AC. I appreciate they don't try to sell me something I don't need. Marcos is fantastic. He is very through and knowledgeable. He answered my questions and explained/showed me where a previous service was improperly performed. I would recommend Shekell.
I was hoping I would be happy with Shekell as they are a good name in the area. Technician seemed to do a good job. However, I was disappointed that they charged $127 for a $15 run capacitor and charged $50/lb of 410A which runs about $5/lb. I'm okay with a reasonable markup but this is absurd! Update - I got a call from Shekell that the 'flat rate' charge for these items was not warranted in this situation and they are issuing a refund for a portion of the bill. Makes sense since the AC service includes the diagnostic tests that revealed the need for the capacitor and refrigerant. And they guarantee their work.

6/23/22 - well it looks like I have to adjust my rating again. Last fall they did furnace service, no problem. This spring, had them out for AC service and was surprised to see the tech hosing down the coil from the outside in, without removing the shroud. Sent a msg on their web site 7 days ago - still no response. You know, the ball's in their court, shouldn't have to call them to tell them they have the ball. My msg was: ----- J E Shekell email, 6/16/22 I signed up for the annual service ($152/year) last Sept when I had the furnace inspection done. I have no copy of any service agreement or invoice for the service done then nor for the spring AC service done last week on 6/9. Can you please email me a copy of the service record for last September and for this June? Is there any online portal where I can access those? Thanks Also - you should know that the service technician that inspected my AC system on 6/9 did NOT remove the fan and shroud on the condenser coils and hosed off the coils by hosing from the outside in through the shroud vent louvers. Not inside out as stated by your technician that was on 14 WFIE [TV] this past Monday. I asked about it and he said he just likes to do it that way. He also did not inspect the evaporator coils in the forced air unit or condensate drain, never looked at anything inside after I told him I had just replaced the filters. That brings up another question - do you have a document online or that you could send that explicitly details the statement of work and services that are included in the spring/fall services? -----

Herb does a great job in getting a serviceman to us very quickly to fix any problem we may have. He calls when he has a serviceman on the way, is very personable on the phone.
Darrin is the last serviceman we had. He diagnosed the problem with the air conditioner very quickly, and fixed the unit so that it would work until he could return and replace the bad part. He is very knowledgeable, personable, and congenial. If I need service in the future, I request to have Darrin be the person to be sent.
From the person who answered the phone to Herb who set the appointment up they were courteous and got me set up with an appointment that was convenient for me. The great customer service continued with their technician who serviced my unit and got it ready for winter at a very reasonable price. Thank you Shekell
I am a long term customer of J. E. Shekell, Inc. having purchased a complete Carrier heating and air conditioning unit in 2016 and having service contracts with J.E. Shekell, Inc. for the past 10 or so years. Yesterday, Canaan Burden And Steve Payne, Sr. plumbers were at my house to fix a "slow kitchen drain". They stayed at their job site until they found the true cause of my problem which was a tree root growing inside my drain line. Their dedication saved me headaches and $$ since I am having large family meals for the holidays.
Your employee Herb Nunley has been my steady contact and he is in my opinion a high-valued employee of J.E. Shekell, Inc. He replies to my emails instantly and usually follows up with a personal phone call to be sure I understand the details of our conversation relating to service of both my residential H/AC units as well as any plumbing issues I may experience.. Herb also makes me feel that I am doing business with a dedicated team of employees who have my H/AC & plumbing concerns covered in the best possible manner.
