Dustin was on time! He answered all my questions and concerns. He was very professional and personal when he was here. Had my maintenance doing in a very timely manner. This was great since I had to leave shortly after my appointment. Hands down a great company to work with!
Got a quote for a job from Freedom. They quoted $1900 to repair my water furnace and $700 each for 2 shut off valves. They also recommended that I needed a new furnace. The cost of having them show up and look at my furnace and 10 min look over was $360.00. I purchased the valves myself for $157 each and did the repairs for myself for a total of $314.00. The inflated quote for parts and urging me to replace the entire unit was shady at best. I do not recommend Freedom and I strongly urge others to investigate their quotes.
Our central air unit went out on Saturday. We struggled thru the extremely hot holiday weekend, and I called @ 8:00 am Tuesday morning, was told a guy could be out that afternoon. I didn't hear anything until I finally called them back at which point I was told he wouldn't make it out that day, but we'd be the first service call the next day. Dustin was there the next morning, quickly diagnosed it was our motor, but unfortunately he didn't have one on his truck. He could order it from Ft Wayne, should receive it Thursday, and would probably be out on Friday.**Side note: He also talked me into agreeing to their $36/month plan, that gives us a reduced service call fee, a maintenance in the spring and the fall, SERVICE CALLS ON THE WEEKENDS/HOLIDAYS, etc. I called around 10:00 am today (Friday), got no answer the first 4 times I called, finally got Lindsay, who told me she saw where they had received the part on Thursday, and she'd call Dustin to see if he had it with him, and if/when he'd be out to replace it. Never received a call back, so I called once again. I spoke with Heidi, who finally informed me that he's out on "emergency" calls today, so he won't make it out, and those "emergencies" will take Monday up as well, so we're looking at Tuesday afternoon. So, you got me for the monthly plan, you got me for a service call that I was under the impression would be significantly lower since I signed up for that plan but was still over $200, you'll get me for over $500 for just the motor, plus whatever other fees you tack on, you WON'T be out on the weekend, even though I was told it would probably be Friday and was also told that being under that plan would ensure service on the weekends. Completely disappointed with your company, terrible management of service. Will never receive a recommendation from me.
*Update* We received another call last Friday, from Heidi, saying that they made a mistake, the part had not been received Thursday, but just that afternoon. She also said they had an opening pop up for Monday afternoon. Dustin came out Monday, was there for a whole 10-15 mins to replace the motor, and our central air works just fine now. Thanks to them for trying to make our experience a little better, thanks to Dustin for being quick and efficient for the actual repair.
Came out to check our furnace, was on out property for 22 minutes, went down to our basement, looked at furnace, said it was a gas valve they would have to order, would be $500-$700 dollars and not able to be fixed until the following week. Gave my husband a $261 bill for the 22 minutes he was at our home and did NOTHING!
Called and let the lady know, that was outrageous and they have lost our business for ever being called again, like a robot she could really care less, they got our $261 already.
Called a different company, much more polite, very nice man, $120 to him and our furnace is FIXED!! (There was water buildup that needed to be drained, not a gas valve as stated from these guys... what a rip off, ask around, save your money, don’t give these people your business, they are rude and charge a lot for nothing!
We just bought a house and called over a week ago to set up a time for an HVAC inspection as it was not functional at the time we moved in. The weather is over 90 degrees. We called the number on the actual unit. We were told it would be a week before anyone could come out for an inspection, and they would be out late morning to early afternoon.
I took off work to make sure I would be home. 3pm rolls around and no one has shown up, and no one has called me to communicate to me about whether the inspection is still going to take place. I called the company 6 times over the course of one hour. No response. No answer. No reply. No voicemail to leave a message. I called three other HVAC companies to see if any of them had availability, as I assumed Freedom would not be coming out and I could not wait yet another week in the heat to have the unit looked at. All the other three companies answered (as a business should) and all three promised they could get someone out by the next day.
I called Freedom one more time around 4:10pm, and finally someone answered. I told my name, said I was expecting an inspection that day during late morning or early afternoon, and explained I had not heard anything and wanted to be sure I was still on the schedule. The person who answered the phone immediately took on a degrading tone and attitude and told me they can't guarantee when someone comes out. She said "other businesses with big projects and fixes take priority over residential inspections and servicing, but, yes, you are still on the schedule for today." Good to know little lowly me is not important enough to be treated like a human being on the phone when I am trying to get information.
5pm comes around (Freedom closes at 5pm), and finally someone says they are going to come out. Too bad nothing was communicated to me, so I missed out on an entire day of work when I could have gone to work afterall. I don't mind that they got to us way later than was promised... I am just terribly disappointed in this company's very poor communication, rude attitudes, and lack of responsiveness.
It was an expensive trip (over $200) for a 15 minute inspection. I do want to thank Dustin. It is not his fault that the price is high and the company he works for is so lackluster when it comes to communication. Dustin was helpful and very nice.
However, I am not sure I will be recommending Freedom to anyone else. When we are talking about heating and cooling, you need a company you can depend on to communicate and answer the phone when you call. I am disappointed and will look at another company to set up a service plan with.
EDIT: I called today to get my invoice emailed to me and something added to it, as it wasn't sent at the time of the payment/service. I called 3 times, and then got hold of someone named Heidi. My conversation with her was much more pleasant than the conversation I had with the individual on the day of servicing. I was able to get the invoice emailed, and I appreciate the help very much. I have increased the rating to 2 stars.
Paul was nice, courteous, and very knowledgeable. He was very thorough and gave many points to extend the life of our products within our home. Highly recommended!!!
Normally during a window of a service you get, you expect them to show up at the last 30 minutes of service. Dustin not only was on time but early (after confirming) and was excellent to work with. He’s very professional, efficient, explains things well to you without making you feel insufficient for not knowing how things run. Will happily continue to work with Freedom moving forward.
Freedom Heating & Plumbing fixed my leaking water heater. They were on time and called beforehand to let me know they were on their way. I had hot water again within an hour. I would definitely recommend their services.
These people always call for my geo thermal maintenance every 6 months. They are very kind and professional. Really love Cameron when he comes out!! Such a really nice guy and very helpful when things need to be done.
