Called several HVAC companies to have someone take a look at my heating and cooling. Was not told there would be a charge on the initial call nor was I told while when they came out there would be a charge. Got an invoice a few weeks later. I called a few other companies that disclosed there would be a service fee over the phone. I had one company let know me before they started there would be a service fee. So I choose Dor Mar because they didn’t have a fee. I called in and to get clarification and they were very rude.

THE GOOD
- they were quick to respond to my service request
- the technician arrived within 2 hours

THE BAD
- the technician has done NO work other than listening to my explanations
- I (the client) was the one to actually do the work. I replaced the thermocouple. (not the technician)
- The technician did NOT test anything (pressure, leaks, etc), literally did nothing to investigate/troubleshoot the reported issue
- He didn't even test the "pilot control solenoid", but somehow he determined that it is not working properly.
- If the "pilot control solenoid" is not working, why not just change it? ($10 part cost), he didn't have it in the car (this is a basic part to have)
- If the "pilot control solenoid" is not working, why replace the entire gas valve ($200 part cost), and send me a quote for ~$800
- I got a quote over an email, no one ever called to check in on the service/feedback

FYI
I disassembled the "pilot control solenoid" (4 screws, 2 minutes work), cleaned it up, tested it over direct flame, installed it back, and now I fixed my furnace.

Wes called about 15 minutes before he arrived. He was right on time with the service window. He was friendly and professional. Asked me to kick on the air conditioner. By the time I walked out he was replacing the bad part - he had in the truck. He explained what the part that needed replaced was and walked me through the repair. Air is working fine. Our AC went out last weekend, and I called another repair place who gave us a timeline of 1 week to come out to fix it. Meanwhile, the house was right around 85-90 for 3 days straight. I couldn’t wait for the other company, so I called Dor-Mar. They said someone would be out that afternoon! Brian M came in time, and fixed the issue within about an hour. He was kind, professional, courteous and gave me some great advise on what I’d need to prepare for, in case our AC gets worse. He didn’t try to up-sell me on anything, and gave a fair price for the repair.

Up charge me 200for a service plan and I call to use it .now they saying it’s 120 to come out during the weekday even I ask the guy who came will we get 3 free service calls if we pay for the plan he said yes. The first one will be waived for the a/c. He said just call back and will do it free of charge since you paid the annual plan. But now I won’t use you guys any more. Mad I wasted extra money trying to support your business and you do this to me

My furnace went out a couple days ago. After multiple other visits from other HVAC companies to provide replacement quotes, Garett from Dor Mar visited for the purpose of giving me a replacement quote. However, he took the extra care to take a basic look over my furnace and found a quick, easy repair within 5 minutes. He did not need to take that extra care and could have tried to up-sell the replacement just like the others who had already visited my home. Garett and Dor Mar gained my trust today. They will be my call for any HVAC needs that I have in the future!

The technician was on time so that was good, the thing that wasn’t was he told us what was wrong with the AC unit and how much it would be to fix it, we were told $340, he asked us if that was okay and if we wanted it to get fixed at that price, we said yes, then he comes back in when he was done to collect the money and said it was $450. We said you told us $340, he said well I needed to replace a part that I noticed needed fixed, we said why didn’t you tell us that, we thought this was going to be $340 especially since we were paying cash. He said I’m just the technician, you’ll have to take any issues up with the billing department, so we did. We called a few days later seeing as it was a weekend and spoke to someone in billing, I can’t remember her name (maybe sherry) I’m not sure, but she said the supervisor would get back to us. A few days later we called again, same story, a supervisor was out of the office but would look into it and get back to us. Well it’s over a week later now and still no call back. This doesn’t make me confident in using them again or recommending them to anyone if they can’t even call back when an issue occurs that needs addressed.

Ron performed yearly maintenance on my furnace today. He came right when expected, was professional and honest. I have an older machine and he did not recommend a new one since it is working fine. Also, wore a mask throughout the visit and was able to work independently. Would recommend.
