I updated my rating from 2 star to 4 star due to the latest service experience I had with the company. My new tenants moved into my condo yesterday and they complained that the heating system is not actually heating the condo. My gut feeling told me to call Fairfax Cooling and Heating even though I swore not to deal with them again after my previous experience. They showed up and quickly diagnosed the problem to be some leftover air in the interlock tube preventing the hot air from going through which is a pretty technical term for me to understand. The cool thing is they fixed for "free" under the warranty. Well, it seems the service quality has been improved since last time the unit was installed. I am a pretty forgiving person. What can I say?

I was told that my A/C needs to be replaced which is very expensive. So Mike and another person showed up to install the unit. Two problems happened... They had to remove one of the drywalls without telling me first to complete the installation and afterwards told ME to put it back on! Mike kept saying that this is just a dry wall, so easy to do blah blah blah, then I said why don't you do it if it is so easy, and then he told me that he doesn't fix drywall ! I was very unhappy with the answer and his rudeness. After back and forth shouting match, he finally agreed to send someone who actually does the dry wall to fix the problem they left behind. The second problem showed up the date after the installation. Some tubes or vents are not connected properly which prevented hot air from reaching the second floor. They had to come in and fix it. Overall, pretty disappointing experience. Will not go back again.
Without a doubt this company is responsive and doesn’t try to oversell you and realizes you’re doing your best to try to keep your house together even if your budget is tight. They will not try to upsell. They are frank about what you need to address sooner than later. They are exceptionally responsive and will recommend things that you might want to consider in the future as budget allows.
Fairfax Cooling and Heating Company provided very bad technologies and services. We installed a heat pump from this company, just a few days, the system was leaking. They came to repair it but I do not know when the heat pump need repair again since their bad install skill. They also gave you a low quote price but when they start to install system, they will raise the price. No recommend for this company.
Today it was 95 out and felt like 105. Of course today our AC broke. Our landlord called and said he could get it repaired but not til Friday. I’ve got 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs and 2 cats and we were all considering a hotel or a friend. I called Fairfax cooling and they had a person out to my house in literally 2 hours and fixed it in 15 minutes for a very inexpensive price. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thank you so very much!!! We can sleep in our own beds!
Really surprised by all the bad reviews for these guys. I originally found them on homeadvisor (where they have insanely good reviews) when I needed a furnace repair done. They came out quickly and fixed the problem for a reasonable cost. When I had further HVAC problems I went straight to them. They quickly came out again and diagnosed the problem. After discussing the issue, I decided to just replace my 19 year old furnace and AC (they did not even try to sell it to me). They offered me a great rate, and could do it within a matter of days (they were very accommodating with my schedule). In the meantime, they fixed the issue I called about, and topped off my freon for free (they were obviously reclaiming the freon, so no cost to them anyway). They completed the install when I scheduled it, and all was well with ice cold AC.
About a month after the install, it got to be cold and I had to turn the heat on. When I turned it on, the motor was running, but there was no heat. I check out the diagnostics on it, and found out that no gas was flowing. I gave them a call and they sent someone out immediately. It turns out that since it was summer during the install, they just forgot to flip a switch that allows the gas to flow to the unit. Problem solved in 5 minutes.
Had another issue where the heat stopped again. Called them at about 4:30pm and they had someone here by 5:30pm. A wire had come loose, so again 5 minute later all was well.
While both of these issues were their own fault, they were extremely quick to respond and fix the issues without any attitude. I will continue to use them for all my HVAC issues, and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I have had nothing but a positive experience with them. I live in a condo and two years ago my boiler bursted causing major flooding. My neighbor's boiler bursted as well. I called several different companies and they were the first to respond. The boilers in my condominium complex are different than other boilers I'm not sure the reason why because I forgot. When they arrived they called around trying to find two boilers but there were none anywhere in the area and the only ones were a bit of a drive away. Due to the fact that it was winter the owner and his son did not want me to have to sleep in a house with no heat in freezing temperatures for a long period of time. So they drove to go pick up both boilers and they stayed late into the night until the boilers were installed. Any company thats willing to go out of their way to drive to pick up boilers for their customers so they don't have to be in a cold house in freezing temperatures shows just the kind of customer service they have. Not only that they gave me some great advice to help keep my boiler room warm during cold weather. They explained everything they were doing and gave a reasonable price for a quote. When my AC broke they replaced both my AC and my furnace adding a feature that would shut off my system when there was a leak which was an added bonus living in a condo with lots of pipe leaks. Today the owner's son Mike came out to fix my AC and delivered excellent customer service as usual. They are very honest trustworthy, knowledgeable people, and I highly recommend them to anybody who's looking to have any kind of AC work done. I have recommended them to several people. As long as I live in this area they will have a lifelong customer in me as well as my mother who was really pleased with the experience I got and she now uses them as well.
Amazing family owned business and top notch service. There I was at 10:30 at night on the 3rd of July and my A/C stopped working. After finding this company on Google I gave them a call and the owner responded via text. Now I live in Herndon so I'm very close, but nonetheless, 10 minutes later Mike was at my door ready to fix the problem. He came in and was extremely friendly, professional and talked me through everything he was doing. He even told me what I could do in the future to save myself some money, as far as maintance and efficiency. This company will have my business for as long as I am in this area.
These guys are great! Heater wasn't working one night and it happened to be on one of the coldest nights of the years. Slept with 4 layers and still was freezing. Called them in the morning and they were able to come out and fix the issue that same day. Apparently I didn't know there was 2 heating units in the townhouse so the filters were never changed in almost 10 years. They were able to fix it, clean it, all without replacing the whole unit which would have been thousands upon thousands of dollar. Thanks guys. Your the best! Fast, efficient, and honest. What more can I say.
Had Fairfax Cooling & Heating install a new air conditioner a few years ago at a great price. As part of the job, they replaced the concrete pad under the condenser unit with a plastic one. When, a few years later, the pad started to crack and the unit started to lean as a result of soil erosion, they came back out and replaced the pad and righted the unit free of charge. You don't see that commitment to customer satisfaction very often.
