I wanted to move my system to make room for a patio and it made more sense to just install a new one. It presented a couple of challenges but the techs worked through and did an amazing job. Would definitely hire them again.
Five Star pushes their private label equipment. They purchase equipment from Goodman and Comfortmaker and slap their logo on it. Before the tech had even arrived at my place to look at the problem, he asked me what my price threshold was before buying new equipment. Red flag. Tech shows up, diagnoses that the main board is bad. Cool. How much is it going to cost. He calls me unprepared with ballpark prices, suggesting that i should replace the entire furnace system. Red flag. I ask him to call me back when he's got firm numbers. Meanwhile, i call the local HVAC supply store, the main board is in stock for under $150. Tech calls me back and wants $1100 to replace the board but won't be able to get parts for 2-3 days, or i can replace the whole furnace for $4500. Nope. No thanks. The team was thorough and had great attention to detail. They did a great job explaining things. They listened to my situation and recommended a solution that was the best fit for me without trying to upsell a bigger, fancier unit that I didn’t need, and they also didn’t try to recommend a bare-minimum, short-term solution that would not have truly solved my issues. They were also clean and didn’t leave trash or any messes behind. I would gladly recommend them to others, and I have no reservations about using them for annual maintenance.
Adam provided excellent service. He explained what he was doing and patiently answered all my questions. He checked all the parts of my heating system thoroughly and ensured that the system was operating with the correct settings. I appreciated his taking the time to do his revision correctly. I will certainly recommend this company and will ask them to come back in the Spring to do my ac maintenance. Thanks, Adam!
Had 3 estimates. 5 Star Heating & Cooling aka Hilliard-Dublin Heating & Air gave us the best price for the exact same type of equipment and warranties the other providers were offering. Brandon Mathews came to our condo to provide the estimate. He was thorough and professional. The techs that did the actual install arrived within the timeframe promised. I was prepared for them to arrive but they did not give me a heads-up phone call. No big deal just a bit of a surprise. Robert Koehl and Dominick worked quietly. They were done in under 4 hours. GREAT! They walked me through all of the new equipment and answered all my questions. The only thing that was a little quirky about the process is no response to the online estimate request or the link in the estimate email that indicated I could use it to accept the bid and schedule the install. When I called for an estimate, Brandon came out the same day. When I called to accept the quote and schedule the install, that was all set up for 3 days later. Calling them is the way to go! Thanks for a job well done and offering a great product and service.
Tried to sell me a fan motor for my AC unit for almost $1000, claimed mine was dead and we would have to wait until the part came in, with no time table. Another company came out an hour later and quickly found the issue which was a much smaller, much cheaper part. Getting a 2nd opinion saved me over $500 and who knows how much time with no AC. I asked the 2nd guy if it could have possibly been an oversight from this guy, and he said "um, no. Absolutely not." Intentional scam job, or unthinkably bad diagnostic job? You be the judge. But we won't work with these guys ever again. Also, when I called to report this issue the manager simply would not get back with me. So basically they charged me $49 for a "diagnostic visit" and then tried to rip me off and then kept my money. Cool.
We returned home from vacation to our heat not working. We called on a Saturday evening and was able to speak to a live person who got us an appointment the next day. They even were able to come earlier than quoted time. The tech reviewed our options thoroughly and we were able to get our new unit installed two days later - just in time for below freezing temps. Professional, timely, and excellent customer service!
Hilliard-Dublin Heating & Air provided a very quick appointment as I scheduled my AC tune up. Matt, the tech was very professional, knowledgeable and thorough. I appreciated that the service cost was very reasonable (There was a "special" going on at the time I booked my service.) The tech called me about 30 minutes before his arrival to alert me to the time he would arrive. He donned booties so that his shoes would not soil my carpeting. He not only checked and serviced my AC very thoroughly but he also replaced my air cleaner filter with one he had on the truck. I immediately received an invoice via e mail and it listed all the items he checked and the results of his service check. I recommend this company very highly and also scheduled another service call for a second property I own.
Scheduled service again in August, 2021 and again excellent service at both my condos.
If you need HVAC or anything please call them- they are GREAT... Came out next day - replaced the system the next day.
