What I most appreciated about Brown Brothers was their attentive and frequent customer support. On the day of the appointment, the city turned off the water on our street to repair a broken pipe. Brown Brothers called us frequently throughout the day to check if the water was on so they could come over and do the work. I really appreciated their keeping in touch and not forgetting us. Called Brown Brothers plumbing and asked for someone to come to my house to look at my hot water heater to confirm replacement was needed and provide estimate for completing that work. Got charged for the visit where two technicians stood in my garage for 90 seconds and didn't even do any analysis of the hot water heater beyond looking at it and telling me it needed to be replaced and a separate person would send an estimate.
Worked with other companies that came and did the same thing and provided estimates without charging for the visit to simply look at the the hot water heater to provide a professional opinion on whether or not a replacement was needed and to review configuration of our current hot water heater setup for providing details of the estimate.
I also called to question the invoice I received and the reps I spoke with were not very receptive to my concerns about being charged for the visit and told me the only way to get a "free estimate" is to explicitly ask for the estimate over the phone when you call instead of asking for someone to come to your house to review your product and provide the estimate as a follow-up to that.
Will continue to work with other plumbing companies in the Triangle area that have provided better customer service/do not nickel and dime me like Brown Brothers did.
