Our home warranty company sent Gary from Modern Mechanical to fix our HVAC and Gary did a great job. He was very informative and gave us valuable tips after his work was done. I will call them again when needed and now know who to refer to friends.

Just had Mark and Brendan from Modern Mechanical install our new water heater. They called prior to arriving at our home and arrived promptly. They were extremely polite and took great care making certain that they didn't track any dirt into the house, etc. They took a look at the water heater they were replacing, explained the process and quickly began working. They laid out a tarp to protect our carpet and to use as their work area. They removed our water heater without any water leaking anywhere. They replaced it with our new unit and took great care to make sure everything was to code and without any leaks. They explained how to operate the unit and how to keep it maintained. Both Mark and Brendan were VERY professional and made the whole process simple for us. I am very impressed with my first experience with Modern Mechanical and will probably get a yearly maintenance/service contract with them to maintain our HVAC, etc. Highly recommend them!

The entire experience with Tyrone was excellent and professional. I called in the morning and he was at my door within a few hours. He installed a new faucet in my kitchen and repaired a broken outdoor spigot. He took the time to explain what was wrong with the spigot, quoted me a price and completed the work the same day. The company was good and I've already recommended them to several friends and family members.

Modern Mechanical and Benjamin Franklin Plumbing tried to have us install a 75 gallon standard electric water heater that no longer meets efficiency standards. We also called the manufacturer who stated that model number was for "Commercial Use Only, and cannot be installed as residential." When we informed the plumber they still tried to have us install it even though that is illegal. When we finally agreed with them on a water heater, we were told our work order was now under "Managerial Review", but when we talked to the manager he stated he did not know why that was. We were then given a new model number and a scheduled appointment time. The plumber never arrived and never called. When I called to ask why, they stated they didn't have the water heater even though we were told they did two days earlier they did. We were also told they weren't going to call because they didn't have the water heater so they just wouldn't show up either. So much for the "Punctual Plumber." When we finally got a hybrid water heater installed, we were told we couldn't use the heat pump because they couldn't hook up the condensate drain, which means our water heater is out of compliance with efficiency standards, and they didn't complete what they were hired to do. Also if you ask for an itemized list, they will refuse, or lie and say they will send it to you. We asked for an itemized list 4 times and never received one. We scheduled another appointment with them to have the condensate drain installed, again they never didn't show up or call with in their time frame. When I called the person on the phone was fumbling around and then says she just now dispatched some one who would be there in a few minutes. The person didn't show up for over 45 minutes. When he got to our house, he walks in and asks if we knew what he was their to do. I told him it was to install the condensate drain, to which he replies that it would be an easy job if he had the parts. We had to schedule ANOTHER appointment with them to finally get our water heater properly installed which took a total of 4 and a half weeks to get done. I would never recommend Modern Mechanical, nor Benjamin Franklin Plumbing to anyone, they don't know what they are doing.

I appreciate that they can come the same day to repair our office' AC that was not working but their fee are extremely high. The tech came and drain our AC and we got charged $587 for it! ($199 trip fee and the rest is the draining fee). The tech doesn't seem that friendly either.

I am a big fan of Modern Mechanical! Over the years they have replaced both of my aging HVAC systems and also provided reliable on-going maintenance. Every technician has been professional and courteous.After many years as a happy customer; I also tried their Ben Franklin division for plumbing services & have been equally happy.
They have adjusted well to these strange times of COVID by instituting new practices to include wearing masks, distancing, and touchless service/ payment.
I would highly recommend any of their services.

They were great. We had our AC break and they were able to come the same day, even earlier than expected which was perfect. The technician diagnosed the problem immediately and fixed it within 30 minutes or so. Very friendly, very professional and took the extra time to show us a few things we can do to maintain our AC unit. Great overall service.

My AC decided to stop working this previous Friday afternoon, and the house got to an unbearable temp. I tried a few HVAC companies and the soonest appointment I could find was not until a week later, then I found One Hour Heating & AC, submitted an appt request Saturday around 2am and they called me later that day and scheduled an appt for Sunday morning. The tech (Scott R.) arrived exactly at the start of the scheduled window. Scott was simply amazing. He not only did a thorough inspection of my HVAC system, he also walked me through part by part explaining how it works, how the issues effect my house, and provided recommended steps forward and why they would be beneficial (without being pushy or trying to upcharge me). Not only did I receive great service, but I also learned a lot about HVAC and my house, which is super helpful as a first time home owner. 5 stars for the company, but 10 stars for Scott R.

All of the servicemen have been extremely professional and congenial. They have always arrived on time and are fully described prior to their arrival as to a picture, a small biography, and special interests. As a customer it is appreciated that you know a little something about who is about to enter your home. The management staff is always Very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend any of the services provided by this business to anyone.

1hr heating & air conditioning of NoVa, aka modern mechanical, replaced my air conditioner this spring and just recently did the winter maintenance service. The techs are friendly, thorough, and very knowledgeable. They generally don't try to pressure you into things you don't need.
