I had a new heat pump installed today. This is the third large job Modern Mechanical has performed for me. The guys did an excellent job. They showed up when they said they would. They didn't leave until the job was done. It was a rainy and cold day. They put down plastic on the stairs and tarps everywhere else they had to work. They were fast and courteous. The office staff is great too! If you don't use Modern Mechanical, you're crazy!

The technician came to our home (1104 Kings Way Ct. SW Vienna) to perform an HVAC annual inspection, as requested by the current owners. He was very professional in all respects, introducing himself at the door by giving me his business card. Being new to the house, he showed me both AC units, filters, etc. He wore shoe covers to keep my carpets clean. He also showed me how the thermostat worked. He was very thorough, courteous, and answered all my questions. I was very impressed by his customer service skills. Excellent job, thank you!!

I have used this company multiple times and have been uniformly very satisfied with their work and people. Today (Jan 15, 2020) Marlon and Zach completed the final phase of our long-term HVAC upgrade plan for our old house by expanding a heating duct, adding a humidifier, and upgrading our filter system. Earlier work included recent full replacement of our main HVAC, and adding an air cleaner. They also replaced a badly corroded water heater years ago. Their people have all been highly professional, experienced, fast, and able to provide top-notch results.

The technician wasn’t very polite, raised his voice, was rude to my wife, took off his boot covers and when my wife asked him to put his covers on, he replied they are new and have no mud. The company states on their site that they are all about sanitation and cleanliness. And guess what, my thermostat still says “maintenance neededed”

The Tech that came out lied to us. He tried to do a hard sell on replacing our three AC units by stating that the refrigerant R22 was being discontinued and will not be available after 2020. I found out that this is not true, that the R22 refrigerant will be available until 2028. He also said that he could not recharge the unit because the coil needed to be cleaned. So for a charge of $199.00 he would clean the coil. He than told us that my Warranty only covers $10.00 per lb and the cost was $32.00 per lb so we would have to make up the difference. I had called in to have two units looked at he would only look at one even though his instructions said I had a concern about the main level AC. He said I would have to put in a second claim and pay another deductible of $125.00 for him to look at it.
So if he lied about the refrigerant what else did he lie about?
They also have an Electrical Division called Sparky. I had set up an appointment for them to come out to do some electrical work in my Home Office for the following week. I CANCELLED THIS APPOINTMENT.
If you need Service from Modern Mechanical, Run do not walk away.
After my experience with Heating and Air division I cancelled that appointment I will go with someone else.
There is absolutely NO Service in their Customer Service especially if you can not trust them to tell you the truth

I was super impressed with Marlon, the HVAC Technician from Modern Mechanical. He knew exactly how to install, set up, and optimize my Nest Thermostat and Nest Home System and codified it with my home network, all for the incredibly low price of $100. He also tuned up my Compressor/Heat Pump a bit too by tidying it up and changing the filter. Additionally, he was 100% on time, professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. My A/C stopped blowing cold air and One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning sent out Gary to service my unit. He was thorough in his testing diagnosis of my problem and was able to replace my compressor in the outside fan unit with no issues. He also took time to answer all my questions and gave me tips on how to use my A/C in terms of opening and closing the flapper (or whatever it is called) inside the HVAC for max air flow to the 3rd floor in the summer and what vents to open/close on each floor to push more cool air to the 3rd floor which tends to stay warmer. Gary was very professional, polite, patient and knowledgeable. I would use this company again! So far every is working well!
